Drift Beach Shack is set in the idyllic seaside hamlet of Weymouth, North East Tasmania, just minutes from the beach and sheltered shores of the river. The home is perfectly positioned to access the highly acclaimed cool climate wines of the Tamar Valley wine region, world renowned golf courses and mountain bike trails.
Just a 50 minute drive from Launceston, on the North East Coast of Tasmania, Weymouth is a seaside destination surrounded by beautiful undulating rural properties, sheep, cattle, vines and views of Mts Arthur and Barrow on approach. Wildlife abounds the accomodation, so keep your eyes peeled for birds, echidnas, wombats and wallabies and, if you're lucky, the elusive Tassie Devil!
The Shack offers a sophisticated blend of mid-century and coastal style, with a touch of boho. The home has been lovingly restored to maintain the iconic architecture of the modernist era, while adding warmth and interest through texture and natural materials in its soft furnishings, lighting and art. The Shack has everything you need to drift away from it all, escape the everyday and immerse yourself in nature.
Drift has two bedrooms, with the capacity to sleep up to four people. Bask in north-facing floor to ceiling windows in the living spaces overlooking the coastal garden and ocean beyond. The home also features a wood-fired heater, newly refurbished mid-century sofas and beautiful woollen throws.
Warm sunny days call for long swims in the crystal clear waters, snorkelling around the rocks and SUPing along the river. As the sun fades, rug up to enjoy long beach and river walks, before returning to the cosy haven of the shack and its wood-fired heater. Feel like a boogie? Get on the turntable and choose from the eclectic vinyl collection!
When it’s time to get away from the desk, explore some of Tasmania’s premium vineyards and cellar doors. Wineries abound in the area, many with cellar doors, wine tasting and platters of tasty treats. For breakfast or lunch, check out the award winning Bridport Cafe, or enjoy a counter meal at the Tam O’Shanter Golf Club on Friday nights.
